HAVASU DEUCES 2020

March 30, 2020

Some of the members finally made the long trip to Lake Havasu, Arizona for the Havasu Deuces show. It’s about a 460 mile trip each way, with three gas stops before we got there. The trip wasn’t trouble free as we had the opportunity to stop in Needles for a little car repair (Ask Bill H.) and on the way home did a little side of the freeway repair (Ask John O.). Ya gotta love hot rods………..

The garage tours and car show was excellent! Perfect 80 degree weather and great hospitality from the many car people in Lake Havasu City. It was definitely worth the drive. Maybe next year? We’ll see…………

And now for the photos……..

TOM WOOLDRIDGE 1930-2019

February 1, 2020

I’m sure everyone knows by now that Tom Wooldridge passed away on December 21st, 2019.  He just turned 89.  He was a great guy, loved his family and roadsters, and always had a smile on his face.  He will be missed.

A couple of years ago I had the privilege to spend some time with Tom and ask him questions about his hot rodding past……….boy was it a treat!  Tom was a member of the Accelerators Car Club of Los Angeles from 1948 to 1949; I was just barely walking then!!!

I took the attached photos of Tom’s personal items, and made notes of our conversation as best as I could.  I noted on the photos when and where they were taken.  I hope everyone enjoys a little trip back into Tom’s past.

We wish Tom’s  wife Lynn all the best in this difficult time.

Deuces on 101, Buellton, CA, October 11 & 12, 2019

November 11, 2019

Some of the members and friends made the trip south from Arroyo Grande to Buellton for the new event put on by Steve Lykken. The show was “Deuces on 101”, a show for 1932 Ford’s only. As I understand it they had about 165 cars show up; pretty good for a first time event. Friday we had lunch at the Firestone Walker Brewery Taproom and Pub in Buellton. Friday night we joined a large group for a BBQ at the Mendenhall Museum of Gasoline Pumps and Petro-liana in Buellton. This is an unbelievable museum of gas pumps, signs and license plates. If you haven’t been there yet, you should go soon……….

The weekend weather was perfect and the cars were assume. We hope that Steve will put on another show in 2020…………if he does, we’ll be there. Enjoy the photos.

LA ROADSTER SHOW, POMONA, CA 6-15-2019

July 1, 2019

Most of the club members made the trip south to attend the annual LA Roadster Show.  This year the LA Roadsters went back to the format from several years ago, where the roadster all get in free, and are all parked together, sorta…..no more cars in the buildings and roadsters parked between the buildings.  It was a good turnout for roadsters and a good time for sure.  We already made reservations for next year…..  Enjoy the photos!

MORRO BAY CAR SHOW May 4th, 2019

May 6, 2019

For the 5th year in a row, most of the members and their wives attended the show, and met for breakfast at Mi Casa restaurant across from my office.  Because of the cold weather, this year we skipped the patio and ate inside.  The attached photos show mostly roadsters that were entered in the show.  I think the car count was down from last year;  I only counted 16 roadsters in the show.

I WAS able to photograph some Legends gathered around John’s ’59 Impala…………..cool car.

LUNCH CRUISE TO SOLVANG JULY 10, 2018

July 16, 2018

“Some of the roadster club members and friends made the HOT trip down to Solvang.  We met up with Lynn Pew and the Back Road Boys from the Simi Valley area.  We had lunch at the River Grill at The Alisal Ranch golf course.  This has become an annual event, our 5th year (we missed 2014) and is always very enjoyable.

After lunch we went to Steve’s house for Root Beer floats and to check out the progress on his ’32 Ford woody; very nice car indeed.  Thanks to Lynn and John for setting this up………..always well worth the effort, even if we were melting in the Solvang sun…………..

For more photos go to Pews Place and see what Lynn had to say. “

LUNCH RUN AND MUSEUM TOUR, WOODLAND AUTO DISPLAY, PASO ROBLES, 3-29-18

April 11, 2018

“On March 29th some of the club members joined in on a Thursday lunch run to Tahoe Joe’s in San Luis Obispo. We had their small front patio all to ourselves. After lunch we made the half hour drive north to the Paso Robles airport for special parking in front of some of the helicopters from the Warbirds Museum. Steve Lochen, museum photographer and Editor of the Eagle Newsletter took some group photos of us and our cars, and he will post some photos on the Warbirds Museum website at some later date. Thanks to Steve and the Museum for their courtesy.

We then moved inside the Woodland Auto Display for a look at the many incredible cars there. The museum covers NASCAR, Sprint, Modified, Super-Modified and Midget race cars as well as a number of excellent street rods. Check out the photos and pay special attention for the photo of some kid named Jeffery Gordon…………pretty cool stuff. ENJOY!”

LUNCH RUN TO “CENTRALLY GROWN” RESTAURANT IN CAMBRIA 1-11-2018

January 29, 2018

We decided to start the new year off with a lunch run to a new place, at least new to us.

Centrally Grown restaurant turned out to be an outstanding place for lunch. All in attendance agreed that the food was great and we’ll return soon. Bill H. brought his new blue ’32 Ford roadster, and as the photos show, it’s outstanding! The drive up the coast was perfect, perfect weather for “winter time” (Beats the hell out of -12 degrees in Vermont!) and a great place for lunch.

We have new members:

January 12, 2018

We have new members: Bill and Sandy Henrichs of Pismo Beach.  Bill has joined us on a number of lunch runs, driving his Candy Apple Red ’28 Model-A sedan.  He sold the sedan and stepped up to a really nice ’32 Ford roadster.  See some of the additional photos of their roadster.  We welcome them to the club and look forward to seeing them in the roadster for many years to come!

LUNCH RUN TO SABASTIAN’S IN SAN SIMEON 10-12-2017

October 19, 2017

Some of the club members and their wifes made the trip North up Highway One for lunch at Sebastian’s in San Simeon.   Sebastian’s is just across the highway from Hearst Castle.  It was perfect sunny weather for a top down cruise.  Diana drove her new style Porsche roadster……….pretty cool chase car.  After lunch some of us cruised through Cambria to look at some of the Halloween scarecrows that the city puts up this time of year.  One of them was on the tractor in one of the photos; looks like a roadster to me.  Enjoy!
